 "YOUR"  MEPS (LABOUR)

Fighting for your future in Europe -
A VOTE FOR US IS A VOTE FOR YOU

HERE TO HELP YOU

GMB@Work for a Social Europe

These are challenging and important times and this summer we are all being given a crucial opportunity. At stake is the planet, our homes, our jobs, our health, our safety and our rights.

In Europe we have improved workplace rights, including better maternity and paternity leave, measures to control working time, equal rights for temporary and agency workers, protection from cancer-causing chemicals and ‘accidents’ at work, anti-discrimination provisions and, for the first time ever in Britain, won the right to paid holiday.

It's not just laws, there’s money for new roads, cleaner beaches, research and education.

By voting, you choose who influences your future. If you don’t, you’re leaving it to someone else to decide who represents you.

I am experienced in ensuring that the views and interests of GMB members are heard in the Labour Party and in the European Union. And I know it makes a real difference how you vote in the European elections this year. The European Parliament is the EU’s only directly elected institution and is a powerful player in their decision making for almost half a billion people.

Our Labour MEPS and MP's fight for the issues you care about, the changes you want to see, the action you need taken and the investments you think should be made. Your MEPs are your voice in Europe. If you elect the MEPs who see things your way, you can make things happen.

That is why it is vital to back Labour in the European Elections in June."   -   Paul Kenny GMB General Secretary

Glenis Willmott MEP

“Labour MEPs work really really hard to ensure that people in Britain get better rights. Why?

What happens in Europe affects us all; Whatever me may do, which is why it is so very important that we have a Strong and Strident voice to ensure that it is to your benefit.

Labour MEP's  have a magnificent record of doing just that!  For example, when the Remploy workers wanted our help we gave it willingly and will continue to do so. We will fight determinedly for you !  All we need is for you to enable us to do so.

The forthcoming European Election on June 4 th 2009 means it is absolutely vital to you all that you use your vote in the right manner.

A low turnout could allow the awful prospect of the BNP gaining a seat in the European Parliament, where they will promote nothing but  Hate and Division, and completely ignore our Gmb members’ interests.

REMPLOY WORKERS WEBSITE

  • Do not forget, A vote for Labour in this election is a vote for GMB members and their families !
  • A vote elsewhere is a vote lost to the detriment of Gmb members interests
  • Not voting in this election only allows minority interests to succeed, whoever they may be.

Put Simply, it' s most certainly in the interest of very Gmb member and their family to vote for a Labour MEP in in this European election.

  • We urge you not to let your family down - Vote in this election
